Projects Advisor in Scotland, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, The Built Environment

I recently joined The Prince’s Regeneration Trust as its Projects Advisor based in Scotland. Previous to my appointment, I spent 18 years working for The Architectural Heritage Fund, advising building preservation trusts and other community groups across the United Kingdom on the development of projects to bring historic buildings at risk back into beneficial re-use.

This experience has equipped me well for my new role at The Trust where I am working with local communities across Scotland to find new and sustainable uses for an extraordinary range of buildings, including a Castle on a remote Island off the west coast, a unique former sanatorium in Aberdeenshire, and a pair of tiny former flagstone workers’ cottages in Castletown, Caithness.

Although I care very much about our architectural heritage, my real passion is what goes on within these buildings, such as the creation of homes, workspaces and community facilities, and the dedicated people who again and again devote time and energy, often on a voluntary basis, to the regeneration and revitalisation of historic buildings at risk for the benefit of their communities.

What’s happening in the community…
