Amanda Williams
Project Director, Charity Next, Initiatives
Hello, I am Amanda and I joined The Prince's Charities in May 2009, on secondment from the Ministry of Justice, to lead the next phase of the Charity Next initiative.
Charity Next has been developed in partnership with the Civil Service Fast Stream and involves brokering secondments into the voluntary sector for talented future leaders from the public sector, in order to build greater mutual understanding and encourage closer working.
The first Charity Next cohort was launched in Autumn 2008 formed of eight members of the Civil Service Fast Stream on secondment for 8-12 months to a range of charities, including ARK, Barnardos, Blenheim CDP, British Heart Foundation, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust and The Prince’s Trust.
The first year has been a real success - under the able leadership of Laura Timms - with excellent feedback from both participants and charities. In 2009 we plan to build on the success of the first year by working with an even wider group of charities and departments and to broaden the initiative's reach into the regions.
Charity Next is a very exciting initiative and I feel privileged to be part of shaping its future direction.
