Scottish Business in the Community

Scottish Business in the Community is a not-for-profit company whose aim is to support, broker and challenge businesses to continually improve their positive impact on society to ensure a successful, sustainable economy and environment. It is led by its member companies, a prestigious group committed to the promotion of responsible business practice in Scotland.

Scottish Business in the Community has risen to the challenge that devolved government has brought to Scotland and are leading the way in promoting Corporate Responsibility in Scotland. It has delivered its programmes across Scotland from Dumfries in the south to Caithness in the North with a team of nineteen based in Edinburgh, and with other team members in Glasgow, West Lothian, Fife, Angus and Aberdeen.

The organisation is pushing hard on the climate change agenda in Scotland, recognising the business opportunity that this can bring to our economy. It is also gaining increased recognition for the work it is delivering in the area of employability; in particular in schools, through ‘Ready for Work’ and for those with mental health issues.

Scottish Business in the Community 2009 Annual report is available here.

I am aware of the challenges facing those committed to Corporate Social Responsibility and thrilled to be asked to take it forward at this time, making our challenges in Scotland our opportunities.
