The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust
The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) is a charity that helps young people, aged eighteen to twenty five years old, start up and continue in business, whoever they are and wherever they come from. With eighteen offices throughout Scotland, its regional managers offer assistance to help young people to access the support, advice, training and funding that PSYBT and its partner organisations provide.
PSYBT offers loans of up to £5,000 and grants of up to £1,000 to young people planning to start up in business. With particular concern for the disadvantaged it also offers this funding to any young person aged eighteen to thirty who has, or faces, particular challenges in their lives. Further assistance is also offered to existing PSYBT supported businesses who want to grow their businesses.
In addition to financial support PSYBT has a network of volunteers who offer support with funding panels and mentoring. All PSYBT volunteers have extensive business skills and experience. Making the all important decision at a funding panel as to whether a young person receives funding to start their business or providing invaluable support, or offer guidance and re-assurance once the business is up and running, are the keys to why many young businesses succeed and contribute to Scotland’s economy.
