Paul Weller to headline special Eden Session in support of The Prince’s Rainforests Project

A special Eden Session concert, featuring British music legend Paul Weller, is being staged in support of The Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) in association with EDF Energy, one of the UK’s largest energy companies. The concert is part of a broader programme of joint EDF Energy and Eden initiatives which are being launched this year to encourage collective action in the fight against climate change.

This Session will raise public awareness about the link between rainforests and climate change and encourage people to sign up to the PRP’s high-profile awareness campaign.

Justin Mundy, Director of the PRP, said: "The PRP is thrilled that EDF Energy and The Eden Project have chosen to feature us at this gig because it provides an important opportunity to help spread the message about the importance of rainforest protection in the fight against climate change. We would like to encourage people to sign up to our campaign."

Peter Hampel, Eden’s Creative Director, said: "This concert is a really exciting addition to the 2009 Eden Sessions line-up and we are delighted to be drawing attention to the vital work of The Prince’s Rainforests Project. We are really grateful for the support of EDF Energy to enable us to host what will be an amazing night of music from one of the world’s most respected and enduring artists."

Martin Stead, Brand Director, EDF Energy added: "As the largest generator of low carbon electricity in the UK, at EDF Energy we’re committed to helping Britain in lowering its carbon footprint, and we’re working with Eden on a range of initiatives to encourage collective action in the fight against climate change. Deforestation is having a major impact on accelerating climate change, and that’s why we’re promoting the Paul Weller Eden Session in support of The Prince’s Rainforest Project, to encourage further support for this important initiative."

Paul Weller, veteran of The Jam, The Style Council and a solo career that spans 16 years, joins fellow headliners Kasabian, Razorlight, Oasis and The Kooks at the Eden Project this July.
