Win a Mey Selections tweed scarf to keep you snug this spring

Each week this month we're offering members of The Prince's Charities Community website the chance to win a fantastic prize from Mey Selections.

Our week three prize is a lovely warm Tweed Scarf (RRP £14.95) made by Johnstons of Elgin. This family owned company has been weaving Scottish cashmere and woollen tweed at its mill in Elgin since 1797. The wool that Johnstons of Elgin uses comes mainly from the fleece of the Cheviot sheep grazing in the North Highlands. The company has blended this wool with merino wool from New Zealand to create the beautiful melange yarns which make up the two Castle of Mey estate tweeds: the “Field” and “House” tweeds. The winner can choose which of these two tweeds they would like their scarf to be made from.

In lovat green and blue-grey hues, the tweeds perfectly reflect the ambience of the Castle of Mey and its wonderful coastal location, with hints of the pink “Albertine Rose”, grown in the Castle’s gardens, a favourite of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. From these tweeds a range of hand crafted products has been exclusively developed for Mey Selections.

Mey Selections is part of the North Highlands Initiative (NHI). The Duke of Rothesay, as The Prince of Wales is known in Scotland, launched the NHI in 2005 to promote an develop the economy and to support the rural communities of the North Highlands. Since the launch Mey Selections has won prestigious accolades including recently the BBC Radio 4 Best Retail Initiative award.
